Sky Brown, the skateboarding prodigy who dominated the Women’s Skateboard Park competition at X Games in 2021 and 2022, is back after a two-year break. Her absence wasn’t a deliberate move away from the Games, she assures fans. “I’ve wanted to be at every X Games,” Sky admits, reflecting on the longer-than-expected hiatus. “X Games is my favorite contest!”
So, why the break? Sky, ever the enthusiast, explains, “My problem is that I want to be at every contest in skateboarding and surfing.” Her passion extends beyond competition, too. “I also want to be traveling and staying at home and cooking Japanese curry with my mom and being 16 years old and hanging out with my friends and family and being everywhere and doing everything all at once, basically.”
Juggling her burgeoning career with the everyday experiences of being a teenager has been a learning curve. Sky acknowledges, “I’ve had to try to find some balance, especially as I’ve had some injuries…”
This time around, Sky is back with a renewed focus and a determination to reclaim her title. The skateboarding world waits with bated breath to witness her return to the X Games arena.
