September 27, 2024 – In a heartfelt tribute to her legendary mother, Olivia Newton-John, Chloe Lattanzi has released a powerful new single titled “Phoenix.” The song, imbued with themes of resilience and self-love, arrives on what would have been Olivia’s 76th birthday.
Olivia Newton-John, the beloved actress and singer renowned for her role in “Grease” and countless chart-topping hits, sadly passed away two years ago after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Her indomitable spirit continues to inspire countless individuals worldwide, including her daughter, Chloe.
“Phoenix” is more than just a song; it’s a testament to the unbreakable bond between mother and daughter and a promise fulfilled. Chloe revealed in an interview with People magazine that she penned the song as a personal vow to embrace life fully, honor her worth, and prioritize self-love, a promise she made to her mother during her final days.
Chloe has been candid about her struggles with mental health, a journey further complicated by the loss of her mother. “I had struggled with PTSD and multiple things of the mind,” she shared. “So this was my promise to be happy, healthy, and love myself.”
Olivia’s unwavering support for her daughter’s musical aspirations played a pivotal role in the creation of “Phoenix.” Chloe recalled her mother’s encouragement, saying, “She would listen to it every day and she would just be like, ‘Come on baby, put it out, put it out.'” However, as Olivia’s health deteriorated, Chloe’s focus shifted to caring for her mother.
Now, Chloe feels ready to share this deeply personal song with the world, a gift to honor her mother’s memory and inspire others facing challenges. “I’m really excited to release this song in her honor,” Chloe expressed. “And for anyone who’s struggling with issues of the body, the mind, or the spirit, I want it to be a reminder to them that they are incredibly more powerful than they could ever imagine.”
“You are not what has happened to you, and you are not the illness that you have,” she emphasized. “You are eternal, bright light.”

The seeds for “Phoenix” were sown several years ago while Olivia was still alive. She actively encouraged Chloe to release her music and share her gift with the world. “But then Mama took a downward turn and the most important thing to me is taking care of my mom,” Chloe shared, highlighting the depth of their bond.
Beyond her music, Chloe continues to champion her mother’s legacy by advocating for cancer eradication and supporting those battling the disease. She is set to lead the annual Olivia’s Walk For Wellness in their native Australia, an event raising funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.
Scheduled for October 6th, 2024, in Melbourne, the walk carries a “Physical” theme, paying homage to Olivia’s iconic 1981 hit.
While navigating the immense grief of losing her mother and best friend, Chloe finds strength and inspiration in Olivia’s enduring spirit. “I feel really proud of myself because I didn’t feel strong at all when she passed. I felt like an 80-year-old inside of a 30-something-year-old’s body,” she admitted. “But I was like, ‘I love her so much. I can’t let this go down the toilet’.”
Fueled by her love for her mother and a desire to make a difference, Chloe is determined to continue Olivia’s mission. “I saw what my mom went through with cancer, and I’m like, ‘I want this to f**king stop’,” she declared. “With the wellness center, the goal is making that the standard of care, the mind-body connection. I have a dream of expanding on that.”
Chloe Lattanzi’s “Phoenix” is a poignant reminder of the power of love, resilience, and the enduring legacy of a mother’s love. It’s a song that speaks to the heart, urging listeners to rise above adversity and embrace their inner strength, a fitting tribute to the remarkable Olivia Newton-John.
