The world fell in love with the sunny shores of Greece and the catchy tunes of ABBA in the Mamma Mia! films. Fans have been eagerly waiting for a third installment, and rumors have been swirling for years. But is there any truth to them?

Björn Ulvaeus Hints at the Possibility of Mamma Mia 3

While promoting the fifth anniversary of Mamma Mia! The Party and celebrating 50 years since ABBA’s Eurovision win, Björn Ulvaeus, one half of the iconic songwriting duo, sat down with Smooth Radio’s Jenni Falconer. When asked about the possibility of Mamma Mia 3, Ulvaeus remained tight-lipped but offered a glimmer of hope, saying, “I can’t tell you much, but if someone shows me a good script, I wouldn’t mind personally.”

When pressed further, the 79-year-old musician reiterated, “As I said, if there’s a good script, why not? It’s a lovely world. The ‘Mamma Mia’ world. Yeah, I like to be in it.”

This isn’t the first time speculation about a third film has surfaced. However, Ulvaeus’s comments suggest that while a script isn’t currently in development, the idea hasn’t been completely dismissed.

ABBA’s Enduring Legacy: 50 Years of “Waterloo” and Beyond

This year marks a significant milestone for ABBA – 50 years since their breakthrough Eurovision win with “Waterloo.” The Swedish pop group’s music has transcended generations, finding new fans through musicals, movies, and even social media platforms like TikTok.

Reflecting on ABBA’s enduring popularity, Ulvaeus expressed his amazement, saying, “We just looked one year ahead at a time and never, you know, never even dreaming of being relevant after 50 years.” He acknowledged the role of TikTok in introducing their music to younger audiences, stating, “I think we’re in the fourth generation or something now, which is amazing – and I never stop wondering ‘Why is that?’.”

From Stage to Screen: The Expanding World of “Mamma Mia!”

The success of “Mamma Mia” has spawned a global phenomenon, encompassing a hit musical, two beloved films, and the immersive theatrical dining experience, Mamma Mia! The Party. Launched in Stockholm, the immersive experience has found a home in London and is set to expand further with upcoming locations in Rotterdam and Las Vegas.
