Robin Gibb, the iconic voice behind some of the Bee Gees’ most beloved hits, left an enduring mark on the music industry. Born in 1949 on the Isle of Man, Robin, along with his brothers Barry and Maurice, formed the legendary pop group that would go on to sell over 200 million records worldwide.
Robin’s distinctive vibrato and emotive vocals were a defining element of the Bee Gees’ sound. While all three brothers shared songwriting and vocal duties, Robin’s voice took center stage on classics such as “I Started a Joke” and “Massachusetts.”

His second marriage, to Dwina Murphy, lasted from 1985 until his passing in 2012. Together, they had a son named Robin-John, known as RJ. Robin also fathered a daughter, Snow Evelyn Robin Juliet Gibb, in 2008.
Battling Illness and Leaving a Legacy
In 2010, Robin faced health challenges when he underwent emergency abdominal surgery. While he recovered and resumed performing, his health deteriorated in 2011. Diagnosed with colorectal cancer that had spread to his liver, Robin bravely fought the disease. Sadly, he succumbed to liver and kidney failure on May 20, 2012, at the age of 62.
Robin Gibb’s legacy extends far beyond his musical accomplishments. He served as President of the Heritage Foundation, an organization dedicated to honoring British cultural icons. His commitment to philanthropy and his contributions to the arts solidified his status as a revered figure.
